Degree Roadmap
The Certificate in Writing and Rhetoric consists of 32 credits:
- Two lower-division classes in grammar, writing and/or rhetoric (four credits each).
- Core course: ENG 414, Writing for Publication (four credits)
- 20 elective credits from writing-focused upper-division English courses. (See course catalog for complete list of qualifying electives. Up to eight of these elective credits may come from EMDA courses such as Screening Theory & Practice, Podcast Design & Production or Writing Nonlinear).
Degree Integration
English faculty advisors are available to help you plan the best way to integrate this certificate into your major. Most students who are working on a major in a subject other than English complete this certificate over two or three academic years.
