SOU’s Certificate in Literary Studies is for students of all majors who are interested in the study of literature.
Degree Roadmap
The Certificate in Literary Studies consists of 32 credits:
- Two lower-division English classes in literature, grammar, or rhetoric (four credits each).
- Core course: ENG 301, Introduction to Literary Analysis and Theory (four credits).
- Five upper-division elective courses in literature (four credits each) such as Chicanx Literature, Irish Literature, Young Adult Novel, Trans Literature, Modernism, Victorian Literature, and more! See course catalog for complete list of qualifying electives.
Degree Integration
English faculty advisors are available to help you plan the best way to integrate this certificate into your major. Most students who are working on a major in a subject other than English can complete this certificate over two academic years.
