The BFA in Art is a competitive option designed for students seeking a professional career in the arts and is well-suited to those interested in pursuing an MFA after graduation. Upon acceptance to the BFA, students join a cohort of engaged peers under the mentorship of award-winning faculty. The BFA program requires more rigorous study than the BA/BS, which allows students to focus on developing a dynamic artistic practice. Additionally, BFA requirements include a mid-program presentation, a written thesis, and a solo exhibition. Students working toward a BFA can expect in-depth study in contemporary art theory and an emphasis on producing a cohesive body of work.

Degree Roadmap
The Bachelor of Fine Art major is designed for students wanting to become creative arts professionals. The curriculum puts students in the studio from their first day on campus and centers on five areas: creative process, technique, professional goals, theory and history of visual culture; and, daily studio practice.
Capstone
The Capstone is an opportunity for students to create a bridge to the work they plan to do after they graduate. The Capstone class provides a workshop environment for students to develop and complete a body of work through the processes of ideation, research, writing, professional presentation, and documentation.
