SOU undergrad Elliot Glenn gets hands-on cybersecurity experience

This past summer was an opportunity for SOU Computer Science student Elliot Glenn to take what she had learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world cybersecurity work.
Glenn spent the summer participating in the , gaining hands-on experience with cybersecurity, high-performance computing and cyberinfrastructure. The experience took her from orientation and training in Miami to eight weeks working with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
鈥淭he experience of STEP was really great for my personal growth,鈥 Glenn said. 鈥淣ot only did I get to do actual work in my field of interest, cybersecurity, but I also got to practice working with a team, getting out of my comfort zone and learning to network.鈥
